Ad Calls for the Extension of Premium Tax Credits by Year’s End

Plymouth Union Public (PUP) Advocacy, a conservative non-profit organization that aims to advance public policies that make America stronger and more prosperous, launched a new ad today encouraging President Donald Trump to save working families from the Democrats’ health care mess by extending the premium tax credits by the end of the year. 

The 30-second spot “Clean Up” is backed by a six-figure buy and will be in Washington, DC for the next week as Congress works to find a consensus on health care. 

The ad underscores how the healthcare system Democrats built is on the brink of falling apart, and President Trump can “clean it up” by extending the premium tax credits. The ad reads, “costs are already rising, and they’ll double when the premium tax credits end on December 31st.” The spot argues that extending the credits now will create a runway for President Trump and Republicans to deliver a winning, patient-centered reform plan in 2026 that will lead to success for the GOP in the midterms. 

The President’s pollster, Tony Fabrizio, earlier this year found that extending premium tax credits could be key for President Trump to hold his trifecta in the 2026 midterms.

Voters in Maine and Alaska support extending enhanced advanced premium tax credits and will reward Senators Collins and Sullivan for doing so

WASHINGTON — Plymouth Union Public (PUP) Advocacy, a conservative non-profit organization that aims to advance public policies that make America stronger and more prosperous, today released two new polls showing that extending Enhanced Advance Premium Tax Credits (eAPTCs) is overwhelmingly popular in the hotly contested Senate races happening in Maineand Alaska and would increase Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Dan Sullivan’s (R-AK) standing with key voters. 

Findings from the Maine and Alaska polls suggest general election voters in each state are concerned by the looming expiration of eAPTCs, and pro‑extension votes by Senators Collins and Sullivan produce measurable ballot movement that increases the chances of Republicans holding the Senate majority in 2026.

Key findings from the Maine poll, conducted by Cygnal, include:

• Sen. Collins  starts the 2026 race in a challenging position, trailing a generic Democrat by 8 points (41% – 49%)
• If Collins votes to extend the credits, she gains a net +6 on the ballot, moving her race to a statistical toss‑up (43% – 45%).
• 73% of Maine general election voters are worried about the tax credit expiration, and 69% want Congress to extend the credits.

Key findings from the Alaska poll, conducted by the Tyson Group, include:

• Sen. Sullivan’s job approval sits at 37% approve / 47% disapprove. Despite a R+3% advantage on the generic congressional ballot, Sullivan currently trails a generic Democrat by -4% (39% – 43%).
• Among undecided voters, 43% are more likely to back Sullivan if he extends the credits; 48% are less likely to support him if he lets them expire.
• After learning “[n]early 20 million Americans…purchase their health insurance directly on the individual market” and “rely on tax credits to help afford the cost of their monthly premiums,” 70% of respondents support extending the credits, including a majority of Republicans (52%).
• 63% of general election voters in Alaska want action and say Congress should extend the credits, including 78% of moderates and 68% of independents.

Four Different Pollsters from across the country found that voters from key states support extending the healthcare enhanced premium tax credits and will reward Republican candidates for U.S. Senate who do so

WASHINGTON – Plymouth Union Public Advocacy, a conservative non-profit organization that aims to advance public policies that make America stronger and more prosperous, concluded a multi-state and multi-pollster research effort that found Americans across the country support the enhanced premium tax credits Americans use to afford health care (eAPTCs) and want Congress to extend them before they expire at the end of the year. 

Polling from a variety of pollsters in the states of Michigan, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Georgia all found that their states’ voters would be more likely to vote for their Republican candidate for U.S. Senate if they supported extending the eAPTCs, and less likely to vote for a GOP candidate if they let the tax credits expire.

• The Tyson Group found that 46% of Florida’s unsure voters are MORE likely to vote for Senator Ashley Moody if she extended eAPTCs, and 52% are LESS likely to vote for Moody if she lets eAPTCs expire. 
• Peak Insights found that a wide majority of Georgia voters say health insurance coverage is important and they overwhelmingly support providing tax credits to help purchase it.
• Polling from Cyngal found that Texas Sen. John Cornyn trails a generic Democrat by 10 points (34-44) if he votes against the healthcare tax credit extension.
• When asked by Public Opinion Strategies if North Carolina voters would be more likely or less likely to vote for a candidate for U.S. Senate if they supported allowing the health care premium tax credit to expire, a majority (57%) said they would be less likely to vote for the candidate, including nearly half (45%) who would be MUCH less likely. 
• The Tyson Group found that 68% of Michigan voters want Congress to extend the healthcare tax credits. Notably, Michiganders who voted for Trump are +17% in their support for extending the tax credits. 

The healthcare tax credits are a key discussion point as the government shutdown continues. Both Majority Leader Thune and Speaker Johnson have expressed a willingness to extend the tax credits. President Trump has also expressed support for a potential deal to extend the credits.

New Spot Highlights Need to Extend Premium Tax Credits

WASHINGTON — Plymouth Union Public (PUP) Advocacy, a conservative non-profit organization that aims to advance public policies that make America stronger and more prosperous, today launched a new six-figure paid media campaign encouraging President Donald Trump to continue his push to save health care for working families by supporting an extension of the premium tax credits in the government funding package currently being negotiated in Congress. 

The campaign comes as lawmakers are seeking a deal ahead of the looming shutdown deadline. The 30-second spot, “Now or Never,” is backed by a $300,000 buy and will air on TV and digital in Washington, D.C, this week. The ad closes with, “Keep making history. Keep fighting for us!”

The ad supports President Trump, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson as they continue their fight to save the health care of those that deserve it the most. As the ad notes, President Trump and Congressional leaders have already taken historic action to protect care for working families via the One Big Beautiful Bill by eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid and preventing illegal immigrants from receiving government health benefits. It argues that the President can add to his historic achievements on health care by extending the premium tax credits.

Majority Leader Thune and Speaker Johnson, as well as several other congressional Republicans, have also expressed openness to extending the tax credits:

• Sen. John Cornyn: But allowing them to go away entirely at the end of this year heading into the midterms? “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
• Sen. Mike Crapo: Senate Finance Chair Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) also acknowledged in an interview that Republicans will likely need to address the issue: “I believe at some point we’re going to need to deal with it.”
• Sen. Lisa Murkowski: “I’m looking to perhaps do some reforms to it, but I think it is something that we are going to be forced to deal with, to reckon with, in my state.”
• Sen. Josh Hawley: Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) also urged action to reporters on Monday. “We’re gonna have to do something on that front, because if we don’t, premiums are gonna absolutely skyrocket,” he said. “I’m open to suggestions, but one option that will absolutely not fly is do nothing. We just can’t. People won’t be able to live, they won’t be able to see a doctor.”
• Sen. Tommy Tuberville: An expiration of the credits, he said, “would hurt my state, Alabama.”
