In New Ad, Conservative Group Doubles Down on Support for Extending Enhanced Premium Tax Credits

Spot Targets Key Republicans Lawmakers and Argues That Extending the Credits Will Help Those Who Will Be Impacted by Medicaid Reforms

WASHINGTONPlymouth Union Public (PUP) Advocacy today released a new ad urging Republican lawmakers to protect health care with a one-two punch: reforming Medicaid and extending enhanced premium tax credits that help working families pay for health insurance. PUP Advocacy’s new ad echoes a new policy memo released by an affiliate group earlier this week outlining the political risk of reforming Medicaid without a free-market alternative.

The 30-second spot, “One Two Punch,” is backed by a six-figure buy and is a part of a seven-figure overall effort to promote Trump’s affordability agenda. The ad will begin airing Wednesday as the reconciliation debate heats up and will run on TV and digital platforms in Washington, D.C. It will also run on digital platforms in the home states of the following senators:

    • Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD)
    • Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV)
    • Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA)
    • Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)
    • Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID)
    • Sen. John Curtis (R-UT)
    • Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK)
    • Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC)

The ad follows a new memo out this week from Plymouth Union Public Research, a conservative research group aligned with PUP Advocacy, that offers guidance for Congressional Republicans to utilize the reconciliation process to extend the enhanced premium tax credits for Medicaid enrollees as a free-market policy solution. The memo argues how doing so would: 1) Ensure those who need coverage and are removed from Medicaid as a result of reforms are still able to get it 2) Save taxpayers billions 3) Be critical for midterm success.

In April, PUP Advocacy launched a powerful ad urging Republicans in Congress to protect the premium tax credits so Americans don’t have to worry about affording health care.

    TRANSCRIPT:

President Trump is stepping into the ring.

Fighting to preserve Medicaid for those who need it most.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: It’s going to be strengthened.

But this government option doesn’t work for everyone.

    Americans want more choices.

Premium tax credits can help working families afford health care.

    But Congress needs to act.

Extending these tax credits can save taxpayers billions while ensuring families have the health care they need.

Tell Congress, protect health care with a one two punch.

Preserve Medicaid and make premium tax credits work for more families.

WASHINGTON — Plymouth Union Public (PUP) Advocacy, a conservative non-profit organization that aims to advance public policies that make America stronger and more prosperous, today released a new ad calling on Congress to enact President Trump’s tax agenda that will put more money in the pockets of hardworking Americans.

The ad urges lawmakers to take action on President Trump’s plan to eliminate taxes on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security benefits. It comes as relevant House committees are considering these policies as they plan their markups for the reconciliation package currently moving through Congress.

“Finish the Job,” a 30-second spot, will air in Washington, D.C, and is part of PUP Advocacy’s broader seven-figure effort to support the President’s initiatives to make America more affordable.

    TRANSCRIPT:

TRUMP: The next phase of our plan to deliver the greatest economy in history is for this Congress to pass tax cuts for everybody.

President Trump’s ushering in the Golden Age of America.

Now it’s up to Congress to finish the job and deliver for President Trump.

TRUMP: No tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security benefits for our great seniors.

More money in your pocket, less in Washington’s.

    Let’s finish the job.

Conservative Nonprofit Debuts Powerful New Ad Urging Congressional Republicans to Protect Health Care Tax Credits

“Congressional Republicans: Don’t let us down. Don’t drive up healthcare costs.
Protect our health care tax credits.”

WASHINGTONPlymouth Union Public Advocacy (PUP Advocacy), a conservative non-profit organization that aims to advance public policies that make America stronger and more prosperous, today launched a powerful new ad urging Republicans in Congress to protect the premium tax credits that help Americans afford to pay for their health insurance.

The ad reads: “The tax credits we use to pay for our health care expire soon, putting our families at risk. We know we can rely on Trump, but we need Congress to act.”

The 30-second spot, “Too Important,” is backed by a six-figure buy and air on TV and digital platforms in Washington, D.C., Idaho, Maine, North Carolina, Alaska, South Dakota, and West Virginia. The ad will specifically target the communities of the following GOP senators:

    • Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD)
    • Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID)
    • Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV)
    • Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)
    • Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK)
    • Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC)

This new ad is part of PUP Advocacy’s ongoing seven-figure Tax Cut Protection Project campaign that the group launched in February.

The premium tax credits that help Americans afford their health care are set to expire at the end of 2025 if no action is taken by Congress. These tax credits significantly reduce costs for small businesses and self-employed individuals. Without an extension from Congress, premiums could increase substantially.

    ON SCREEN TEXT:

Nothing is more important than their health.

    Or theirs.

    And when something is wrong…

We shouldn’t have to worry about how we’ll afford to take care of them.

The tax credits we use to pay for our health care expire soon.

    Putting our families at risk

We know we can rely on Trump

But we need Congress to act.

    Some things are too important.

Congressional Republicans, don’t let us down.

Don’t drive up health care costs.

Protect our health care tax credits.
